The support and paint layers are in a good, stable condition overall. Areas of retouching are mainly around the edges and on the figure to the far right. The retuchings are slightly darkened but acceptable. The varnish is slightly yellowed but even and glossy.
Circle of John Anthony Puller (1821-1867)A wooded landscape with figures and horses by a gate and cottageoil on canvas25 x 17.5cmProvenance: Folly Mill, Thaxted, Essex.Condition report: Oil on canvas which appears to be unlined. The canvas tension is good and the picture is in plane. There are localised areas of raised, wrinkled paint, vertically orientated and following the canvas weave. Retouchings are mainly localised in the darker areas, reinforcing elements of the composition and are well matched to the original. The varnish is very glossy in some areas and no longer adequately saturating the paint layers below. There is a smeary layer of surface dirt present.

The canvas is in plane with good tension and the paint layers are in a good condition. Retouching in the figures face and outfit is carefully applied and mainly following cracks. In the background the overpaint appears slightly more brushy in handling but the extent of this is difficult to determine. The varnish layer has a smeary appearance which is slightly blanched and opaque in the background.
Anton Hansch (Austrian, 1813-1876) An Alpine village with figures around a fountainsigned 'Hansch' and dated 1861 l.l., oil on panel55 x 78cmCondition report: Oil on panel. The wooden panel is formed from two boards in horizontal alignment. Three vertical battens are present which appear to be part of the original construction. The panel join has slight movement at the right hand side which has disrupted the paint layer but overall the support is in plane. The paint layers are in a good condition overall. At the right hand side is a small dent and paint loss caused by impact. The varnish is slightly yellowed but even, with a few scuffs and scratches. A surface dirt layer is present with a few fly spots. The slip of the frame has cracked, possibly due to the weight of the panel itself.
Circle of John Crome (1768-1821)A wooded landscape with figures by a pooloil on canvas43 x 53cm Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined. The original canvas has a diagonal twill weave which is now more apparent in the paint texture following line. The thin paint layers are slightly worn in many areas. There is extensive overpaint across the surface which has darkened and discoloured. In the sky the overpaint gives an uneven and grubby appearance. The varnish is dull and no longer adequately saturating the varnish layers below. There is a layer of surface dust across the painting and frame.

There is a crack in the panel that runs diagonally throughout, areas of paint chipping either side of the crack. There doesn't seem to be any overpainting visible under a UV light, the work is apparently unsigned. Please see close up images to show condition.
