A pair of oak caryatids, circa 1800, carved with standing figures, one playing a lute, above swags, leaves and fruit, height 126cm, width 10cm.There is a possiblity that these could be earlier, although it is hard for us to entirely commit. Unfortunately, it is harder for us to suggest a country of origin. There is a small amount of loss due to worm, to the top of the caryatid with the lute player (no longer active). Also, the other caryatid, there are signs of inactive worm from shoulder (of the brick carrier) to the top, running along the edge.
