Walks Through Bath being disbound & comprising textblock only, richly illustrated with engraved plates depicting the Pump Room, Prior Park, Pulteney Bridge, the Royal Bath, the Cross Baths and other local sights during the Regency period (plates lightly spotted). The book of pressed flowers containing such examples as geranium, viola, veronica, rhododendron, leucanthemum and others, each named in manuscript hand. Contained in green gilt tooled cloth album. London Gazette 12 December 1919. Ernest Edward Taylor was born in Hulme, Lancashire, in 1876. He attested for the Royal Artillery as Musician aged 15 years and 3 months, and is recorded in his Army Service Record as serving 18 years with the Band of the Royal Artillery. His reference at discharge on 9 May 1912, adds: ‘Bombardier E. Taylor is an excellent performer on the oboe and Cor Anglais (English horn). He is also a very competent viola player.’

A viola and a violin, circa 1900. Both are of German origin and lack labels. The back of the violin, which is stamped 'Stainer', has an approximate length of 33.5cm. The viola has a two-piece back with an approximate length of 40.4cm. The instruments are cased, with a single bow and a Wolf Forte-Primo rest. Estimated in-house shipping for this lot is available to the UK for £40.50.Additional natural light photographs of the viola have been uploaded. The 40.4cm back measurement of the viola does not include the button, the back measures 41.5cm with the button included.There appear to be two restored splits (please see final photograph).There is also a 2cm long chip to the lower left purfling, as seen in the photographs.
