PROKOFIEFF SERGE: (1891-1953) Russian Composer and Pianist. A rare original manuscript score of Quintet in G Minor (Op.39, 1924 ‘Quintette’) signed by Serge Prokofieff, forty-eight pages, folio (manuscript paper), n.p. (Paris), 1924. The manuscript is penned in black fountain pen ink, with various annotations in blue indelible pencil and is signed (‘Serge Prokofieff’) in ink to the head of the first page and dated 1924 in his hand. Titled to the front and annotated at the head in Cyrillic as being Prokofieff’s personal copy. Together with a second manuscript score of The Fiery Angel (Op. 37, ‘Der Feurige Engel’), sixty-four pages, folio (manuscript paper), n.p., n.d. (circa 1927), penned in bold, dark fountain pen ink and titled in German at the head. Some light overall age wear, VG, 2 Quintet in G minor was scored by Prokofieff foroboe, clarinet, violin, viola and double bass and contains six movements. The work is closely related to the composer’s ballet Trapeze. The Fiery Angel is an opera by Prokofieff which was first presented in Paris in November 1954 and first premiered at the Venice Festival in 1955.

Manfredo Settala, first Italian edition, lacking portrait frontispiece and large folding plate, occasional spotting or light foxing, 20th century vellum-backed decorative boards, [Cicognara 3461 (Latin edition)], 8vo, Tortona, heirs of Eliseo Viola, 1666. sold not subject to return. ⁂ Catalogue of the Wunderkammer of Manfredo Settala, which was bequeathed to the Ambrosiana. It included Chinese printed books on silk and porcelain, mummies, musical instruments, tropical fish and birds of paradise.
A Victorian silver christening mug, Mappin & Webb, London 1900, embossed with curved lobes and flutes and a foliate bordered shield cartouche, inscribed, 9cm high and a French engine turned silver beaker, with an upper frieze of flowers and leaf scrolls against engine turning, gilt lined, 8cm high, inscribed 'Viola', 6.7ozs weight combined (2).
Colin Dipper forty-eight button 'English' system concertina tenor (viola range) with top note F and the top notes of the normal 48 keys are located at the bottom. Ten-sided amboyna wood on hardwood core with hand cut fret and ebony edges. Aircraft aluminium action levers, naval brass capped lightweight buttons, best handmade steel reeds in brass frames, ebony finger plates. It has dark green Scottish hand finished goatskin bellows and was made in the 1980s. It comes with a hard carrying case.
