Lillian Cheviot (1876-1936)A greyhound and a hare in a Highland landscapesigned l.r., oil on canvas56 x 66cmCondition report: The canvas is not lined. Some superficial surface abrasions. Under UV light there is a patch of retouching to the mid-range hills along the edge, and a larger area to the hills to the right side. There are some further touches to the sky. It is not clear what these were for as the canvas appears stable and the reverse doesn't show up any puncture holes or tears. It is possible a restorer took a small area of paint loss or varnish degredation and put a more general sweep of fresh paint over the top which would be easier to colour match and blend. Generally speaking it looks well presented and ready to hang.
