AUTOGRAPHS Fifty-two signed and facsimile signed black and white portrait photographs, many of postcard size and form, the signed including Gordon Jackson, Wendy Hillier, Phyllis Calvert, Sally Ann Howes, Glynis Johns, Michael Wilding, Basil Radford, Peter Ustinov, Rachel Kempson [Lady Redgrave], Mary Hayley Bell, David Tomlinson, John Mills, and Eric Portman, most laid-down on paper leaves (one side only), in a cloth-bound stock book.
A mixed lot of mid-20th century and other decorative ceramics, including a Radford flower brick, Crown Devon ramekins, a Carltonware hors d'oeuvre dish, cottageware biscuit box and cover, a graduated set of three jugs, each transfer decorated with flowers and blue tits and other similar items.
Howell & James plaque signed Edith Cowper 1880 painted with Margarets, painted marks to reverse, 26cm diameter, also a St Ives bowl, a Radford bowl and one other studio pottery bowl. (4) Condition report: The St Ives bowl has a hairline crack to the rim. The Radford bowl and the Howell James plaque have crazing. There are no other damages or restorations. Autograph Book as used by Walter Rowan, a life-long steward who joined the GWR and worked the Paddington - Swansea Restaurant Car Trains. He became Chief Steward and retired in 1966. A substantial album of 80 autographs of actors and celebrities of the time with that of Jean Simmonds illustrated. The most prominent is undoubtedly that of Ronald Reagan, who was of course an established actor long before becoming President of the USA. A potted history with image of the original owner accompanies. An Oak Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Thos Radford, Leeds, circa 1770, broken arched pediment, mahogany crossbanded trunk door, 12-inch arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring signed, dial centre with seconds and date aperture, arch with rolling moonphase, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack striking on a gong, 232cm high 22.05.13, Case with chips to edges and scratches, hood with a later added finial, gilding to the column capitals have faded and with some damage, hood door with later applied knob, trunk door very slightly bowed, lock is later, left hand side of the lock with a new piece of wood added, a piece of wood has been added above the plinth, front panel of the plinth with a crack and is lifting, some veneer is lacking, skirting is later added and the feet are missing, structure of the base and the bottom of the trunk is weak, case backboard with cracks, dial is dirty and has faded, dial also with scratches, later seatboard, inside both cheeks with new pieces of wood added to support the side cheeks, movement needs cleaning, now converted from striking on a bell to a gong, third wheel pivot is broken.
