ROBERT RADFORD WELCH (1929-2000), AN ELIZABETH II SILVER THREE-PIECE TEA SERVICE by Robert Welch, London 1979, comprising teapot with Indian rosewood handle, cream jug and sugar bowl with fixed handle. (3) Teapot 25cm long, 27.5 troy ounces grossWelch attended Malvern School of Art and trained as a silversmith at the Birmingham College of Art under Cyril Shiner and R.G. Baxendale. Between 1952 and 1955, he studied at the Royal College of Art under Prof. Robert Goodden. On graduating in 1955, Welch became a product designer and set up a workshop in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire. The Silk Mill premises he found had been the home of C.R. Ashbee's Guild of Handicraft.The marks are clear and well-struck. No engraving. In excellent condition.

PILKINGTONS ROYAL LANCASTRIAN; four pieces including a squat vase decorated with a crystalline glaze, with impressed P mark, diameter 16cm, together with a green glazed bowl with ribbed body, with impressed P mark and inscribed 'Made by MLW 15 III 10', diameter 17cm, also an unusual Radford hand painted vase decorated with a landscape, numbered 188, height 16cm (5).The Pilkington bowl with 'Made by MLW' with a firing crack to the underside although the bowl still rings true, the glazed squat vase with a tight crack to the rim, the Radford vase with crazing to the body.
