NINETEENTH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL; oil on canvas, portrait of a gentleman member of the Radford family of Manchester and later Newcastle, in formal red dress coat, appartenly unsigned, 53.5 x 43cm, in gilt frame, and a related family tree tracing the family from the 10th to the 19th centuries, framed and glazed (2).Additional InformationPainting is very dry with crazing and craquelure, there is quite a strange effect where, particularly the outlines of the face and collar project prominently, there is an area of damage lower left where the painting may have been subject to heat and some pock marks to the surface. A strange area of finishing or brushwork to his forehead. Frame heavily worn with some splits, this painting is very dirty and will need a thorough clean.
