Original vintage exhibition advertising poster for an exhibiton by Fernand Leger (1881-1955), a French painter, sculptor, and filmmaker. Having regarded to be a forerunner of pop art, his early works he created a personal form of cubism which he gradually modified into a more figurative, populist style. The exhibition was held from May to June 1962, at 70 Rue de L'Universite, Paris - the gallery of Heinz Berggruen, a collector and dealer who played a major role in the post-World War Two reception and dissemination of European modern art, and more specifically, of Pablo Picasso. The poster features a Leger painting dated from 1913. Toward the end of 1912, Leger made among the most defiantly abstract works yet seen. Over the next two years he worked intensely in this experimental idiom, producing the fifty or so canvases, and twice as many works on paper, that constitute his Contrastes de formes (Contrasts of forms) series. Nach 1945 beeinflusste Rolf Müller-Landau zunehmend die bisher in Deutschland schwer zugängliche Kunst Frankreichs - vor allem die von Georges Braque, Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse und Pablo Picasso - und sein Schaffen erreichte eine überregionale Anerkennung. Besonders hervorzuheben sind seine Farbschnittmonotypien, eine von ihm entwickelte Drucktechnik: Auf hauchdünnem chinesischem Reispapier wurden handbemalte Holz- und Linolschnitte gedruckt. Rolf Müller-Landau gelang damit eine Verschmelzung von Malerei und Druckgraphik. Jede einzelne Farbschnittmonotypie wurde so zu einem Unikat.

Beeinflusst von der Kunst von Paul Klee und Pablo Picasso, beginnt Davie abstrakt zu malen. Im Jahr 1948 unternimmt er Studienreisen durch Europa und trifft dabei in Venedig Peggy Guggenheim. Diese Begegnung bringt Davie zur ersten Annäherung an die frühen Werke des amerikanischen Abstrakten Expressionismus. Davie lässt sich davon und insbesondere vom Werk Jackson Pollocks inspirieren. Eines seiner ersten Bilder dieser Zeit wird von Peggy Guggenheim gekauft.1950 hat Alan Davie seine erste Einzelausstellung in London. Im Jahr 1956 bereist er New York, im selben Jahr erhält er den Prix Guggenheim im Musee d'Arte Moderne in Paris. Seine Kunst bekommt internationale Anerkennung und Aufmerksamkeit. Es basiert auf Scherenschnitten und ist eines der wichtigsten Künstlerbücher des 20. Jahrhunderts. "Jazz" wurde im Herbst 1947 veröffentlicht. Der Titel ergibt sich aus der Improvisation und dem Rhythmus der Bilder, die den Bezug zum Musikstil Jazz herstellen. Motive, die Clowns, Akrobaten, Kunstreiter und Säbelschlucker darstellen, weisen auf den ursprünglich geplanten Titel „Cirque“ (Zirkus) hin. Spaßmacher und Akrobaten dienen als Metaphern für die künstlerische Existenz.

Zu seinen Lehrern gehörte unter anderem Prof. Heinrich Wildemann, der die Willi-Baumeister-Klasse übernommen hatte. Wiedmann wurde nicht nur bekannt durch die Ausstellungen seiner eigenen Kunstwerke in nationalen und internationalen Galerien, sondern auch als Unterstützer verschiedener Künstler, die er selbst ausstellte.1964 eröffnete Wiedmann seine erste Galerie, die „Galerie am Jakobsbrunnen“ in Bad Cannstatt, die er bis 1985 leitete. Dalí verhalf er zum Beispiel zu seiner Bekanntschaft in Deutschland, als die Nachfrage nach dessen Kunst hierzulande noch gering war. In seiner „Galerie am Jakobsbrunnen“ stellte Wiedmann 1966 als erster die Bilder Dalís in Stuttgart aus.
