A brief A.L.S., The Queen, in the third person, one page, 8vo, Osborne [House, Isle of Wight], 9th December 1848, to an unidentified correspondent. The Queen sends a petition (no longer present) which she had received that morning. Together with Prince Albert (1819-1861) Prince Consort of the United Kingdom, husband of Queen Victoria. Autograph document wrapper signed, Albert, one page, slim 8vo, n.p., n.d., addressed in Albert's hand to His Grace The Duke of Newcastle. The opposite end of the page is similarly signed and addressed by the Duke of Newcastle to Prince Albert. The Queen's letter laid down and with slight discoloration to the four corners and the wrapper with several small spindle holes, not affecting the signatures. G, 2 Henry Pelham-Clinton (1811-1864) 5th Duke of Newcastle. British politician, Secretary of State for War and the Colonies 1852-54.
