The large bull is missing the end of one horn and has a repair to one foot. It measures approximately 43cm long by 14cm wide by 25.5cm high. The horse is missing its reins. All items have crazing. Hall was the first performer of Vaughan Williams' Lark Ascending, and a major figure early 20th century music. Most cards addressed to one Miss M. Glennie, Gravelly Hills (a music school?). A fine vintage signed and inscrtibed sepia 7 x 12.5 photograph of Melba standing in a three-quarter length profile pose holding a small prayer book or bible in her hands, with a rosary over her left wrist and a chatelaine hanging from her waist, in costume as the young maiden Marguerite from Charles Gounod's opera Faust. Photograph by Spencer Shier of Melbourne (1925) and signed by him in pencil to the mount. Signed by Melba in bold, dark fountain pen ink to the lower photographer's mount, 'To Madame Rue, with all good wishes, Nellie Melba', and dated 1926 in her hand.
