*Branson (Clive, 1907-1944). Street scene with figures, Battersea, oil on canvas, laid down on wood, framed and glazed with artist's handwritten name and address - Flat 37, 99 Haverstock Hill, N.W. 3 - to verso of frame, 25 x 20.5 cm (9.9 x 8 inches) Clive Ali Chimmo Branson (1907-1944) was an English artist and poet, and an active communist in the 1930s. His wife was Noreen Branson (1910-2003), and their daughter is the artist Rosa Branson (born 1933). Clive attended the Slade School of Art, but stopped painting after joining the Communist Party in his mid-twenties he returned to painting in the late 1930s producing scenes of life in Battersea where he lived, the workers in the streets, and events during the Blitz. A number of these works are held by the Tate Gallery. Clive was an active recruiter for the International Brigade, and himself fought in the Spanish Civil War from January 1938, being captured at Calaceite on 31 March 1938. As a prisoner of war at the Nationalist camp of San Pedro de Carde¤a, he painted and sketched the camp and its inmates, at the request of the authorities, some of which survives in the Marx Memorial Library in London. He died in action in Burma on 25 February 1944, where he was serving as a Sergeant in the 54th Training Regiment of the Royal Armoured Corps. A boxed Marx Pressed Steel 'Articulated Inter-City Transport Truck' from their 'Powerhouse' range of vehicles. Overall model appears G with some defects, such as missing one headlight unit, a distorted plastic windscreen, some breaks in the plastic side bars of the trailer etc., although does retain sixteen pieces of the original barrel load. Outer packaging is likewise generally G.
A boxed set of three vintage miniature, brightly decorated, ceramic 'Pixie Jugs' bearing the 'Salcombe' town name together with a selection of mainly boxed and carded toys including a Tri-ang Mini- Hi-Way le Mans Racing Car, 2 x Telsalda 'Devil Racing motorcycle' friction drive toys, a Tonka Scrambler '#708 Hot Horse', a carded set of three Bartons Petrol Pumps, a card gameand a Victory Jigsaw Puzzle together with four unboxed items, one of which being a Marx Dalek with damage. Whilst overall models appear generally G/VG packaging ranges from P to G+. A rare vintage 1960's (1964) Marx Toys made ' Dr Who - The Mysterious Daleks ' battery operated Dalek. Rare gold and black variation. Complete with all guns and eyepiece. Within the original box. One of the rarer Doctor Who toys. Appears generally near mint, with very little signs of use. Box very good, but one tear to the rear. Dalek measures approx; 17cm tall.

Louis Marx & Co stream line electrical train (steam type), instructions present, contained in original box, This train set was given by the Duchess of Windsor to David Cottwell as a Christmas gift circa 1942 / 43 whilst in Nassau in the Bahamas. Comes with supporting provenance including a black & white photograph of David receiving the train set.
