MARX GROUCHO: (1890-1977) American Film Comedian, one of the Marx Brothers. Signed and inscribed 10 x 8 photograph of Marx in a head and shoulders pose alongside his brothers, Chico and Harpo Marx. All three siblings are seen wearing their familiar costumes in the promotional image for An Evening with Groucho. Signed by Marx in black ink to a clear area of the background, with his first name only, further adding 'You bet your life!' in his hand to another clear area at the base of the image. One very light, extremely minor stain and a couple of small surface creases to the lower white border, VG Marx's annotation, 'You bet your life!', is a reference to the popular American radio and television show which the comedian hosted from 1947-60.
[ARMSTRONG NEIL]: (1930-2012) American Astronaut, Commander of Apollo XI (1969). The first man to walk on the moon. A small selection of five strands of hair apparently belonging to Neil Armstrong, neatly encased and mounted to a printed 4to card featuring a colour illustration of Armstrong standing in a three quarter length pose wearing his spacesuit. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and several photocopies of legal documents and statements etc., including one by Marx Sizemore stating, in part, 'This is to inform you that I have been the barber of record for Neil Armstrong since October 1999. I generally cut his hair once a month....I do attest that the hair clippings submitted to you are his hairs that I cut from his head'. VG, 4
A Louis Marx Tom Corbett Space Cadet 2 Sparkling Space Ship, boxed (a.f.) Condition report Report by MW The key wind mechanism is working, and it makes a noise but there are not any sparks coming from the rear. The tinplate model is generally in good condition. Unfortunately the tail fin is missing. It comes complete with its original box, which is generally in poor condition, having lost all flaps on one end, two flaps on the other end, and has a large tear and is scuffed on all edges.
WORLD COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, France / USA, Fondation Carnegie, The Andrew Carnegie Medal for France, founded 1909, Silver Presentation Plaquette for Lifesaving, awarded Auguste Keufer, 1909, by Louis Dejeau (1872-1953), bust of Carnegie right, FONDATION CARNEGIE 1909 / LIBÉRALITÉ D’UN CITOYEN AMÉRICAIN POUR RÉCOMPENSER LES ACTES DE COURAGE ACCOMPLIS EN FRANCE, rev diaphonous Victory places a wreath on the head on a kneeling naked hero, named and dated on tablet below, 81mm x 53mm, in fitted case of issue with “FONDATION CARNEGIE” in gilt on lid (small adhesive tape repair) (Marx 351). Extremely fine, reverse deeply toned, silver examples are extremely rare. The recipient perhaps Auguste Keufer (1851-1924), the famous French Trade Union leader and long time president of the Fédération française des travailleurs du Livre.
