Trinder also appeared in films and on television, in 1955 becoming the first compere for the new programme Sunday Night at the London Palladium. The comedian was a lifelong fan and devoted supporter of Fulham Football Club and served as Chairman of the club in the 1960's. He was awarded the CBE in 1975.
