DELVA LTD. "SPECIAL BRAND" REPLICABlended Scotch Whisky. A replica of the whisky discovered by Field Marshall Erwin Rommel's forces in North Africa, which was transferred to Nettuno, Sicily before being bottled by Delva Distillery around 1944 following the Allied Invasion and Occupation of Nettuno. Label reads: "This is a true and faithful reproduction of the original label combination on this bottle". CONDITION REPORT: Labels worn, viewing recommended.
CHURCHILL WINSTON S.: (1874-1965) British Prime Minister 1940-45, 1951-55. Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1953. War date T.L.S., Winston S. Churchill, with holograph salutation and subscription, one page, 4to, n.p. (London), 7th October 1939, to A. Marshall Diston, on the blind embossed stationery of the Admiralty. Churchill states that he is sorry to hear his correspondent's news, adding 'the more so as I do not know what I can do to help', however thanking Diston for having written. Accompanied by the original envelope. VG £400-600 Adam Marshall Diston (1893-1956) British Journalist who served as a literary assistant to Churchill in the 1930s. Diston, as Churchill's ghost-writer, authored the controversial article How the Jews Can Combat Persecution in 1937 which contained some anti-Semitic overtones and largely contradicted Churchill's original instructions to Diston. Churchill disapproved of the tone and content of Diston's article and it was not published.
JOHN W MILLS (born 1933); a cast Silicon aluminium bust of William Blake, height 37cm including plinth. (D) Produced in 1964 at Digswell House where the artist worked with Hans Coper, Peter Collingwood and John Brunsdon. The artist has confirmed he produced four of these busts alongside the commissioned William Blake memorial installed in Blake House, Marshall Steet, London on the site of Blake's birthplace.
