Original wine red morocco with rich floral and ornamental gilt decoration on spine and covers, gilt spine label, ornamental standing and inner edge fillets, gilt top edge and marbled endpapers (somewhat rubbed, bumped and discoloured, spine and capitals slightly scuffed). Binding signed: Ferdinand Bakala, Vienna. - With bookplate of the Hamburg actor Robert Meyn. - One of 25 Roman numbered copies of the special edition with the hand-coloured lithographs (total ed. 525). Signed by Gabór on the title page and by the translator Ludwig Goldscheider in the printer's note. - In the margins delicately browned and very sporadically minimally brownspotted. Overall a good copy with beautiful colouring.

FRANÇOIS ÉMILE POPINEAU (1887-1951), AN ART DECO BRONZED TERRACOTTA FIGURE OF A BATHING FEMALE NUDE FRENCH, CIRCA 1925 Signed E. Popineau to cast 49.5cm high François Émile Popineau (1887-1951) was a member of the artist group 'La Stele' that was founded in the 1920s by the Éditeur d'Art, Arthur Goldscheider. Popineau received a number of commissions for national war memorials, before developing a specialty in the study of female sculpture and fountain decoration - most notably in Bourges and Bagnères-de-Bigorre. He was awarded a gold medal at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in 1935 and the Prix Puvis de Chavannes for 'La Baigneuse' in 1937. Stanislaus Czapek) um 1913, undeutliche schwarze Stempelmarke 1912-1920, geprägte Modellnummer 4380, Nummer 64 und 35, Buchstabe T und A sowie Pinselnummer XXIII. und Buchstabe F., heller Scherben mit polychromer Unterglasurbemalung, auf profiliertem Ovalsockel tanzende junge Frau als Halbakt mit Tuchdraperie beim Flötenspiel, auf den durch ihre Beine schleichenden Leoparden herabschauend, minimalst brandrissiger und fachmännisch restaurierter Zustand sowie ein kleiner Chip an der Sockelkante, H 60,5 cm.
