After Albert-Ernest Carrier Belleuse, (French, 1824 - 1887), an Austrian painted terracotta bust of a maiden by Goldscheider, Brunhaut, late 19th century, portrayed with head turned to sinister beneath a hood formed of an eagle`s head, the wings enshrouding her and descending to the loosely draped decolletage, on an integral rectangular section plinth, inscribed `Carrier-Belleuse` to one side and stamped `REPRODUCTION RESERVEE 1773/70/12` to the reverse, 71cm high.
