Mozley (Charles b.1915). Collection of twenty?nine original preparatory book illustrations, c.1960's, pen & ink, pencil & charcoal drawings on paper, some heightened with white, majority laid down on card, includes images of Vulcan, Athena, Hercules, Isis & Horus, Perseus, Poseidon, Cupid & Psyche etc., dimensions approx. 120 x 140mm to 215 x 140mm, contained in modern plastic ring binder Charles Mozley was born in Sheffield. He studied at Sheffield School of Art and at the Royal College of Art (1933?37). He taught anatomy and life drawing at Camberwell School of Art (1938?39) before army service in WWII. He illustrated many books, dust jackets, theatre & film posters. He was also responsible for several murals for the Festival of Britain in 1951. (1)
