A contempory set of castings for a World War One railway gun, 3 1/2in gauge. The model is of a British world war one railway gun '12in Howitzer Mark 5 on mounting railway truck Mark 3 manufactured by the Elswick Ordinance Company in 1916. The parts consist mainly of aluminium castings with turned steel barrel and bogie wheel set (two missing). The truck casting is approximately 75cm long and is thought to have been made to enable construction, demonstration or instruction purposes. This lot is sold together with a book by John Batchelor/Ian Hogg 'Rail Gun' published in 1973.
