Note: Potter’s Squirrel Nutkin was born out of a story and picture letter that she sent to the daughter of her former governess, Norah Moore, whilst she was staying at Lingholm in the Lake District. Potter made a number of sketches during her stay of the surrounding landscapes including Herbert's Island which, in her book, became Owl Island. Condition: boards good, spine with light sun fade, corners not bumped, stitching good and tight , overall a very good example.

Note: this book contains what are considered to be Potter's finest illustrations. Carpenter (Edward).- Whitman (Walt) Song Of Myself, one of a hundred copies printed on Japan vellum and signed by Elbert Hubbard, portrait frontispiece, with finger soiling to verso, tipped-in presentation leaf signed by Hubbard and others, half morocco, gilt spine, small stain upper cover, t.e.g., 4to, 1904.⁂ The presentation leaf reads, 'This little book is a token of regard to Edward Carpenter'. It is probable that it is Carpenter (1844-1929), the English utopian socialist, philosopher and early activist for sexual liberation, to whom this presentation is addressed since he was not only a lover of Walt Whitman's work, whose poetry he claimed had had a profound impact on him, but also a friend of Whitman having visited him in the 1880s. He also published two of his own works on Whitman. Signatures on the page include: Elbert Hubbard (founder of the Roycroft artisan community in East Aurora, New York, writer and publisher), Charles H Kerr (founder of the eponymous publishing company and socialist), Oscar Lovell Triggs (Chicago professor and author of works on Whitman), Jane Addams (key leader in US women's suffrage movement, political activist, social worker and author) and 3 others.

Browning B425 Grade 1 over and under shotgun, 30 inch multichoke barrels with five choke tubes present, key and instruction book, length of pull 14.25inches, serial number 29627NR.UK RFD OR SHOTGUN LICENCE REQUIRED TO BUY THIS LOT.120cm longCondition report: The gun has some dents scuffs and marks to the thick finish of the stock, there is a short crack to the forend wood close to the action see image 13 online. The barrels have some marks and wear but nothing too deep or defacing. The action cocks and ejects correctly on snap caps and the selector is working as it should. The bores are generally good, there are some shadows to the top tube around the mid point which will probably come out with a good clean or minor polish. The bore measurements guage .725 and .726 against the 18.4 and 18.5 proof stamps. The barrel to action fit is tight with not rattle.

RAF log book and related items for air gunner Frederick George Satherley, 462 Squadron, to include a Defence medal, 1939-1945 medal, 1939-1945 star, and France and Germany Star in original postage box. Also his RAF Service and Release book, a photograph of Satherley (top left) with aircrew, a later air gunner badge, copper plaque and patch. The logbook begins on May 13th 1944 and runs through to February 1946, recording over forty flights over enemy territory in the Halifax III bomber piloted by Andy Anderson. Satherley records bombing runs, flak, and fighter sightings, as well as his Halifax crash-landing near Liege on the 14th April 1945 after the starboard outer engine failed forty-five minutes from target and the starboard inner engine cut out over the target as the bomb doors closed. The lot is accompanied by typed research of Squadron 462 B Flight skipper Andy Anderson, compiled by Bill Johnson.Frederick George Satherley was born in Gloucestershire on the 28th August 1920. During his air gunnery training in 1944 he met Jennie Armstrong whilst stationed in Whitley Bay and married on the 27th September 1945 after the conclusion of WWII. Following his RAF service Frederick Satherley worked as an HGV driver for the Esso Company serving the company for 30 years and then briefly for North Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council before retiring. They lived in Monkseaton, just outside Whitley Bay throughout their working lives before retiring to Spain where Frederick passed away on the 13th February 1996 after a short illness.
