A late 19th century Swiss clock automaton, Trumpeter Clock, with fret carved pediment, circular dial with painted Roman numerals and two-train striking movement with trumpeter automaton. Height 26 ins, width 13 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock has come in for sale from a local private residence. The owners have not had the clock running for some 20 years as a consequence the movement is very dirty but does seem to be complete. The bellows do operate the horns and we do have the pendulum. The mechanism for the trumpeter appears to be intact and correctly fitted. The clock case itself is simply dirty and dusty but all complete with no significant losses. There is a crack in the front casing below the numeral 6 and above the doorway. Other than this and minor chips & blemishes to the base the case is in good order. There are no initials anywhere on the case or the movement. We have now had the clock ticking away but it is currently not striking. The clock has only one trumpeter and three horns. We do not know whether this plays a specific tune or not.
