A mid 19th century continental silver gilt and enamel singing bird automaton music box, the top with foliate strap work in low relief and an oval enamelled hinged cover showing a girl nursing a bird, the sides cast with putti, the back a hinged key compartment, 10.1 x 6.6cm, maximum height 4.2cm. Enamelled hinged cover good condition. One pin hole in firing to left of face. Generally in very good condition.
A large late 19th century table top Swiss musical box, bells in sight and marionette automaton, playing twelve airs, penny in slot mechanism. Cylinder 33 cm, case width 67 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The mechanism winds. It also plays robustly and the marionettes and bells all operate. The comb tips appear to be in good order. It sounds tuneful. The interior of the case is dusty and dirty. There is a stress fracture running vertically through the timber to the left hand side of the penny slot aperture. The doors close as they should. There is a stress fracture to the left hand return moulding to the top of the case and various marks and scratches particularly around the base of the piece. The doors have minor losses to the painted musical emblems the backboards are original.
A 19th century musical automaton, in the form of a cat playing a harp, with clockwork movement and internal cylinder, raised on an oval ebonised base. Height 42 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds and plays tunefully. The head nods up and down with slight sideways movement. Both paws should move as if playing the harp. They are both hinged but only the right hand facing paw has any slight movement. There is clearly something disconnected within the body of the cat. Both the harp and cat are attached to the wooden base as they should be.
A Continental silver automaton musical bird box, in the manner of Karl Griesbaum of Germany, early 20th century, with hinged lid engraved with lyres, the shaped rectangular box decorated with shells and flowers, a sliding bird releases the lid to operate the feathered singing bird automaton, struck "800" to the underside alongside the crowned letter "T", with brass bird shaped winding key. Width 10 cm, height 3.8 cm, depth 6.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The bird box is operating. We have the original brass key in the shape of a bird. The mechanism operates, the bird sings and the wings flap and the bird itself moves. The top closes automatically and the bird recesses into the body. The condition of the box is very good and we can see no significant or any obvious faults.
A Gold Continental Skeletonised Quarter Repeater Jacquemart Automaton Pocket Watch, circa 1820, verge movement, pierced balance bridge, enamel Arabic numeral chapter ring surrounded with a skeletonised border with three Jacquemart automaton figures appearing to strike the bells with hammers for the quarter repeat when the pendant plunge is pressed, back cover with a central engraved decorated pedestal urn, gilt metal cuvette cover with the central automata mechanism (now missing), 56mm wide see illustration 13.12.17, Case with surface scratches and dents, engraved back cover decoration is slightly rubbed, gilding to cuvette is slightly rubbed, cuvette central automata mechanism is now missing and also the concealed cover, enamel chapter ring with one small chip to the edge at 5, winding smoothly, movement in going order with balance ticking, repeater is working when plunging the pendant and the automata figures arms are moving correctly, total watch weight 134.6g.
An Austrian clockwork automaton singing bird box raised on filigree ball feet. Decorated in relief with panels of stag hunting scenes, the flip up cover depicts a figure in a boat with the fallen stag and opening to reveal a gilt metal grill and the singing bird with iridescent green feathers, 10cm wide. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. No key. The mechanism is working but with slight faults. The wings don't appear to be functioning and the bird doesn't pack away without assistance. There are some noises of mechanical resistance.
A 19th century Swiss "jacquemart" automaton repeater striking pocket watch. With blue enamel case and ornamented to the bezel with a pair of figures in copper, silvered and gilded metal each striking a bell in unison with the watches chime mechanism. With white enamel dial having Roman numeral markers and railroad type minute track, 54mm wide. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Running. Repeater function working. Wear to the enamel on the case back. Very slight dents and tarnishing to the metal.No key.

CONDITION REPORT No cracks or chips to dial. Clock appears to be running. Areas of tarnish, surface wear and grazes to figure. Arm mechanism appears to be working.

Victorian Singing Bird Automaton (Poss Bontems). The Brass case having a black and yellow bird perched on a stand with floral swags surrounding it. Movements are in the tail and beak. also with neck movement from side to side. When the bird sings it has its own callback to the song. Cage is circular with floral frieze on bun feet. Condition - In superb working order.
