`ONE THOUSAND YEARS OF BRITISH MONARCHY` BY JOHN PINCHES LTD., LONDON `STERLING SILVER MINT EDITION OF FIFTY SILVER INGOTS`, depicting a monarchs head against a background of a major current event, viz George III and `The Battle of Trafalgar 1805`, circa 1975-1977, approx 106oz, in teak wood presentation case and the accompanying book by Sir Arthur Bryant, in clip case EST 1200-1500
Of Channel Island interest, a rare late 18th/early 19th century feather picture of brightly coloured flowers signed Le Normand, 34x29cm, in original gilt wood glazed frame, verso with stencil mark J Lambert, 2 Union Place, Lisson Grove, together with a hand written label `This picture was given to Gertrude Le Normand Gosset by her grandfather on hearing she had been named Le Normand from the picture`. Also with this lot is a letter from Gertrude Le Normand, Molesworth (circa 1915), to her niece Mowenna Riley, suggesting she get her father to buy it for her for £100, also a type written transcript and family tree. Provenance: This picture by family repute was done by Marie Le Normand of Jersey, she was the mother of Matthew Gosset of Bagot Manor, Jersey (1764-1842), Viscount of The Island of Jersey. It then passed down to his son, Captain George Bagot Gosset (?-1840), of the 4th Dragoon Guards, from him it descended to his daughter Gertrude Marie Le Normand (writer of the letter), who married Robert Francis Molesworth, it then passed to Athelstan Laurie Riley of the Manoir De La Trinité of Jersey (1858-1945), and his wife the Honorable Andalusia Louisa Georgiana Charlotte, eldest daughter of Samuel 8th Viscount Molesworth, it then descended to his daughter Mowenna Mary Andalusia Riley who married Captain Harold Arthur Brocklebank of the 4th Battalion Royal Lancaster Regiment, who lived at Grizedale Hall, Hawkshead, Lancashire, and then by descent to the present owner. This picture is coming to sale out of the family for the very first time. This lot is accompanied by some research (illustrated)
