In good period carved silvered wood frame. N.B. Susanna Dormer was the daughter of Sir Richard Brawne of Allscott in Preston, Co Gloucester, and his wife, Theodosia. She married Sir John Dormer, Bt., the son of John Dormer and his wife, Katharine. She died at Richmond in 1672 and her two children, William and Susanna, hold a portrait of their recently deceased mother. William succeeded to the baronetcy and studied at Trinity College, Oxford. Provenance: Said to have come from Catesby Abbey, Northamptonshire; Bought in 1862 for £35 from Mr Redfern; Arthur Duckworth, his sale, Orchardleigh Park, Christie's, 21st-22nd September 1987, lot 213, sold for £14,300
