A pair of Victorian white opaque glass baluster vases raised on spreading circular feet decorated with flowers and foliage, height 36cm and an Arthur Wood impressed Dick Whittington jug with figural handle, height 22cm and a twin handled Maling dish commemorating the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953, diameter 13cm (4). CONDITION REPORT: There is a little rubbing and loss to the gilt highlighting on the two glass vases, crazing to the glaze of the Maling dish. The Dick Whittington jug is crazed with some restoration to the rim and a couple of hairline cracks.

THE DAMBUSTERS, 617 SQUADRON, important and probably unique small format autograph album presented to James Brown Junior, son of James Brown MB ChB, Senior medical officer for 617 Squadron, stationed at Scampton and Swinderby, on his 9th birthday, 8th October 1942; signatures include Dambusters, other members of 617 Squadron and other RAF Squadrons, RCAF, and gallant Airmen, etc, including, DAMBUSTERS R.C. Hay F/O RAAF DFC & bar, K.I.A. 12.2.44 K.I.A. 13.2.44 according to official record, Bomb Aimer in the ANZAC Crew, AJ-P First wave, third aircraft to attack Möhne Dam. Mine veered left after dropping and exploded at side of dam. Flight Lieutenant Robert Claude Hay, RAAF, 407074, aged 30 Melvin Young S/L DFC & BAR MISSING 17-5-43 MOHNE EDER DAMS PRESUMED KILLED, Dambusters Pilot, Squadron Leader Henry Melvin "Dinghy" Young, DFC & Bar. Studied at Trinity College, Oxford part of winning crew of the 1938 Boat Race. Acquired nickname "Dinghy" after coming down in the sea twice and surviving in inflatable dinghies. Transferred from No.57 Squadron to No. 617 Squadron. Young together with Henry Maudsley carried out much of the organizing work needed to form a new squadron. On the night of the 16/17 May 1943, the raid took place. Young flew Avro Lancaster ED877/G AJ-A (code-named "A-Apple"). A-Apple flew as part of the first wave which attacked the Möhne Dam. Young was second in command of the raid, which was led by Wg Cdr Guy Gibson. A-Apple was fourth to attack and hit the dam, causing a small breach. On the return journey, A-Apple was brought down by anti-aircraft fire, probably by gunners at Castricum-aan-Zee, who reported shooting down an aircraft at 2.58am. The bodies of all seven crewmen were washed up on the Dutch coast over the subsequent days and were buried in the Bergen General Cemetery, Bergen, North Holland. W.C.
