SHIPPING INTEREST - a large beautifully crafted Hawser Cutter with hand painted narrative, "the Hawser" is the nautical term used for a heavy rope used for towing or mooring vessels, after a shipwrecked crew has landed from a stranded vessel it was necessary to release the large, expensive hawser from the vessel so that it could be used again. In this situation, a hawser cutter was employed. The hinged cutter was closed around the hawser with the white painted end on the inshore side, the whip line was then tied to the cutter and used to pull it back from the shore toward the wreck, once as close to the mast as possible, the hauling in whip was then pulled, closing the sharp knives in the cutter in an action that severed the hawser, once free from the mast, the hawser, cutter and whips were simply pulled ashore

TOP GUN (1986) - Leonard "Wolfman" Wolfe's (Barry Tubb) Screen-Matched Fighter Pilot Helmet with Replica Visor Cover - Leonard "Wolfman" Wolfe's (Barry Tubb) screen-matched fighter pilot helmet with a replica visor cover from Tony Scott's Top Gun. Wolfman wore his helmet while attending Top Gun and participating in several combat missions as Rick "Hollywood" Neven's (Whip Hubley) Radar Intercept Officer. This helmet screen-matches based on the unique marks present on the back and sides, which are all original and unrestored. The helmet is constructed of fiberglass painted red and affixed with yellow, blue, white, and silver-color star insignia stickers, two with cartoon butts on them, and decal letters on the back read "WOLFMAN." A green breathing mask with a rubber hose is attached to the front via nylon straps, and two foam and leatherette earpads with fastening strips are included. Under the foam padding of the helmet's interior is the marking "Top Gun Merlin #1," implying this helmet was likely used for Merlin (Tim Robbins) before being repainted for Wolfman.Following production, the helmet's original visor cover was removed. The visor and visor assembly with this lot are replicas which were painted and applied with graphics recreated to match the original helmet for display. The points where the face mask clips on were also replaced after filming and have since been repainted red. The helmet exhibits scuffing, decal peeling, foam deterioration, and a crack in the breathing mask.Estimate: $10,000 - 20,000Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday, August 15th.
