Very small chip to the enamel on the clock side and a small hair line crack to the enamel on the top left corner. When wound clock appears to run although we offer no guarantee. Areas of fading and discolouration. Split to the wood near the top arch. Crack to the wood on right side and chip to the back left of the surmount. Browning to the paper charts. Some losses to the thermometer gauge and split to the wood around the screw at the bottom right of thermometer gauge. General wear and tear.
A heavy 9ct curb link bracelet with padlock clasp, attached is a Victorian 18ct fob compass/thermometer, weight 65.25g.The weight of the fob is approximately 19.20g. The diameter is 30mm depth 11mm. A Tunbridge ware combination desk thermometer/compass by Edmund Nye, the square rosewood base bordered by chain form mosaic and supporting a stick ware collar to an octagonal body mounted with a mercury thermometer the scale engraved 'E. Nye - Tunbridge Wells' within seven panels of floral mosaic, the top inset with a circular compass and lacking the original stick ware surround now veneered in rosewood. A Tunbridge ware thermometer stand, with mercury thermometer. Height 19 cm, together with a pocket watch stand, a butterfly topped box and small lidded box with female figure (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The stand is in generally good order. There are no losses to the Tunbridge ware. It is however a little dusty and dirty and the rear of the piece looks to have been in the sun a little and the original finish slightly faded and matt to look at. The bottom edge of the base has lost some of its original finish but this is a minor issue. The majority of the paper covering to the base is not present. The ivorine plaque is a little dirty. The thermometer operates correctly. The accompanying butterfly topped box is again in generally good order. There are no losses to the Tunbridge ware. The hinges are original and present. There are no serious issues with this box.
