A 1967 left hand drive Volkswagen Splitscreen Sundial camper, registration number VBY 396E, red over yellow. This rare Sundial camper was featured in Ultra VW Magazine, issue number 120 August 2013 and appeared on the front cover. It describes the full restoration of the bus by David Millar, a well respected VW restorer, for the owner of a chain of coffee shops in London. The bus was imported from Idaho and was in relatively straight condition, fitted with a hot twin plug engine and special ignition system. The engine was felt to be impractical for its intended use on London streets so a rebuilt 1200cc engine was installed, a full respray was carried out in Ferrari red and Mercedes yellow, the steel wheels were refurbished and new chrome embellishers were fitted as well as new tyres all round. The interior saw a similar amount of work with new fittings throughout. The finished article is certainly eye catching as can be seen in the accompanying magazine article. Since completion the bus has seen little use and it is hoped that the new owner will get to use the van as intended. V5C, ***no MOT*** See illustrations
