An early 20th century diamond and ruby set snake ring, designed as two entwined snake heads, one set with a brilliant cut diamond, the other with a mixed cut ruby, continuing to a tapering unmarked gold coloured shank, ring size H ½ (at fault) together with a 9ct gold maple leaf brooch, realistically modelled with engine turned textured decoration, pin and safety loop fastening to reverse, import marks for Edinburgh 1983, 3.8cm long, together with a further 9ct gold leaf brooch, marks for Birmingham 1964, 3.3cm long, gross weight 5.2gms (3)CR; Ring: Good order. All stones are present, moderate abrasion and wear to the ruby, but diamond is in tact. Details to the snake heads and shank are heavily worn. A ruby and diamond 18ct gold ring, comprising three (untested) oval mixed cut rubies, each interspersed by brilliant cut diamonds, all bezel set in 18ct yellow gold to tapering shoulders and plain polished shank, shank stamped 'C&F' (possibly Cropp & Farr), ring size O 1/2, weight 3.0gmsCR; All stones are present and in tact. One of the outer rubies shows moderate abrasion and chipping around the facet edges. All rubies show moderate scratching and wear. Please note, these rubies have not been tested for synthetic or natural origin, no have they been tested for treatment. All diamonds appear to be in good order, no cracks, chips or losses. All settings appear secure. The inside of the shank shows moderate scratching and wear consistent with use, but no splitting or signs of repair or major thinning. This piece would benefit from professional cleaning.
