Oval Framed Stereo Daguerreotype of a Palissy Ware Style Dish. Probably by Louis Jules Duboscq-Soleil (1817-1886). Some damage under glass to background and slight 'rainbow' type discolouration to extreme edge of one image. Slight lifting of binding to edge, probably re-mounted. (condition 5/6). Very difficult to photograph so the images shown may not do justice to the item - viewing in person is recommended. (Cabinet L)
Portuguese Palissy style Majolica jug by Manuel Mafra Caldas Portugal, late 19th century, naturalistically modelled with lizards and insects, height of the ewer including lid 41cms, some losses Heavy crazing to dish possible chips to dish. Bad repairs to lizard on lid and chipped also lid cracked.Two small lizards on body have heads missing, small insects on body have parts/chips missing.Chips missing all over body of jug and base.
