A 19th Century fine quality oversized Palissy-ware Ewer, the large spout terminating in grotesque mask, the handle modelled as intertwining serpents with frogs surmounted, the bulbous main body on turquoise and peach ground embellished in relief with grapes, leaves, insects, shells etc., on circular shaped base, approx. 89cms (35")h. A Jose Cunha Portuguese ware Palissy type plate, decorated in relief with a snake eating a lizard surrounded by smaller animals, 28cm wide with two further similar smaller Pallissy type dishes, stamped 'caldas da rainha' and 'Hafra' (3) (at fault) CONDITION REPORT: The main plate is in generally good order, although there may be small losses to the very fine grass modelling. The second plate has a repair to the lizard's head and an area of paint loss over one eye, and again may have small losses to the very fine grass modelling. There is extensive damage to the base of this plate. The third plate has chips to the lower jaws of both of its lizards.
