A 20th Century Art Deco style moulded pressed glass shop display hat stand / milliners mannequin head in the form of a Tibetan Buddha converted into a table lamp. Moulded and pressed glass of pink colour with moulded features and being raised on a thick oak base. Measures 34cm x 20cm x 17cm.
Punk Rock - A fantastic 20th Century retro vintage shop display point of sale mannequin of a stylised punk rock man having chiseled and painted facial features with blonde hair. The mannequin dressed in a black leather tasseled jacket and black leather trousers, a Vive Le Rock T-shirt and a good pair of George Cox black and white creepers. Measures 188cm x 50cm.
dating: about 1580 provenance: Italy, Helmet with skull in one piece. Medium comb (a couple of old repairs inside, almost invisible from outside), with twisted border. Fine, good pointed visor (later) with long eyelets and a series of ventilation holes on both sides. Antique beaver. Nape-guard and neck-guard both with two plates, decorated en suite, with remains of outlines and recessed and file-roped twisted border; a row of iron rivets, a brass plume-holder on the back. Three-plated gorget on both back-pieces, with festooned borders and neckline with a thick, twisted rope. Breast-plate ribbed in the center, with prominent belly (small repair at the tip), provided with neckline and gusset with a thick rope, borders with outline; moulded projections around the neckline. Five-plated tassets with an outline above, lower border with twisted rope. Brassards with hemmed borders, decorated with notches, pauldrons with relieved curls. Back-plate decorated en suite with the pauldrons. Knuckle-shield with complete articulated guantlets, cuffs with a fine rope, well relived on the edge with a recessed band, another big rope on the plate of the knuckles. Full-leg defense with a decoration similar to the breast-plate, ribbed in the center and with file-roped and twisted borders, knee-cops with small wings. Restored leather strings. Mounted on a fine, wooden mannequin with articulated arms and with a pedestal. Elegant armour and, although composite, assembled with taste. All the elements of the right proportions. height as shown circa 200 cm.
dating: 1840 circa provenance: Germany, Interlocking helmet, with skull in one piece, blasted, with two twisted combs and with large longitudinal fullers on sides. Fine, well visor shaped as grotesque mask, with rectangular eyelets, surmounting a face, finely relieved, complete with pierced eyes, nose and mouth with sharpened teeth, open as well. Beaver with interlocking neckline that incorporates the twisting at the skull base. Closures with snaps. Back part with plume-holder. Visor hinges with rosette-head. Gorget with four plates, file-roped and twisted neckline, for helmet interlocking. Rounded breast-plate, with gusset and neckline with typical twisted ropes, very thick and faced outwards. A folding rest on the right side. Back-plate decorated en suite with the breast. Three-plated loin-guards. Four-plated tassets, both with twisted lower border. Complete brassards. Epaulettes provided with neck-collar with file-roped border, elbow-piece with big fan plates. Inarticulated gauntlet with cuffs provided with a thick spiral. Full-leg defense, provided with shoes overtaking the drawing of the other parts. Knee-cop fan plates with twisted border. All the armour is finely carved en suite: plates with longitudinal fullers, that outline the relieved and outlined bands, plates with festooned border. Complete with leather strings, all with iron rivets. The armour is presented on its wooden mannequin complete with high pedestal. High quality work, comparable to antique originals. Total height with the base: abt. 220 cm. See a similar armour (antique) in the collection of Vienna armory which belonged to Duke Ulrico of Württemberg, illustrated in 'Armi e Armature Europee' by Thomas/Gamber/Schedelmann No. 56. height as shown circa 185 cm.
dating: End of 19th beginning of 20th Century provenance: Europe, Finely made in iron, in the style of antique specimen. With a German-type helmet with visor in good conditions and combed skull, pauldrons with big neck collar plate, the right one provided also with a small rowel, breast-plate with folding, brass rest. Brassards complete with big wings at the elbow-piece, inarticulated knuckle-shield. Complete full-leg defense. Plates decorated with a typical fluted decoration. No mannequin. height circa 173 cm.
dating: 1887 provenance: Papal States, Blouse in the traditional colors of the Guard, red, blue and yellow, bordered and finished with stripes with heraldic arms of Leo XIII (1878-1903); large pants in classic colors as well; blue and yellow socks; Spanish-type collar. Blouse and pants both marked inside with date '1887' and number '77'.Mannequin is not included. The body of the Pontifical Swiss Guard has been faithfully in the service of the Pope since 22 January 1506. After the conquest of Rome by Italian troops in 1870, the Swiss Guards, who had previously taken part in various battles, were intended for the personal defense of the pope in his quarters. Pius X in 1914 fixed the number of soldiers who make up this particular body in 100 units as well as 6 officers, including the commander who has the rank of colonel. During the Second World War, Pope Pius XII temporarily expanded the body of the Swiss Guard to over 300 members. height (Jacket) 79 cm.
