Neo's (Keanu Reeves) complete costume from The Wachowskis' sci-fi action sequel The Matrix Reloaded. "The One" wore his costume in scenes set within the simulated Matrix universe as he embarked on a quest to save the human race from extinction. Neo sported the same costume in the next installment, The Matrix Revolutions. One of the main factors costume designer Kym Barrett had to take into consideration was the practicality of the outfits and how they would withstand the complex stunt sequences. Several versions of Neo's costume were produced, using different fabrics suitable for the action during particular scenes, from straightforward conversation to flying and fist-fighting with Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) in the storm-ridden City. The black costume consists of a pair of micro sunglasses featuring green-tinted lenses; a full-length ecclesiastical-style textured woollen coat (labelled "Keanu Reeves., #1 Hero Coat-Matt Wool"); a cotton shirt which displays a mandarin collar (labelled "Neo"); a set of cufflinks; a Zimmerli T-shirt (labelled "KR" and size M); a pair of Trafalgar elasticated braces; a pair of trousers (labelled "KR 32"); and a pair of Andre #1 patent lace-up boots with Kevlar heels (labelled "KR*"). Intentional slits have been created underneath the sleeves to allow a harness and wires to be attached to Reeves. The costume is displayed on a custom-made mannequin mounted to a glass base, with a metal rod entering the heel of the right boot. Minor wear from production use includes make-up remnants on the inside of the coat collar and light scratches on the shoes, while some stitching has become loose within the coat. Completing the ensemble is the nicest costume component--a black, white, and gold-coloured fibreglass helmet marked "HERO WORKING SET" (an additional note for "Dark Visor" is present but crossed out) with a foam-padded interior. The front and back plates of the helmet are connected by elastic and close with fabric and velcro straps on the interior.
