A small Dame Lucie Rie stoneware jug, post 1950, of tapered form, covered in an oyster-white glaze, the brown edged upper rim with glaze running's, 'LR' seal mark to underside, 10.5 cm high, (chips to rim), together with a Japanese Tenmoko glazed bowl with white trailing, im pressed Japanese symbol, 6.5 cm high, and two further pottery vases.(4)
A Lucie Rie stoneware bottle vase purchased from Albion Mews, ovoid with slender neck and flaring rim, glazed with a spiral blue, lavender and brown pitted glaze impressed LR mark 30cm. high. Provenance: Purchased from Lucie Rie at her Albion Mews studio 1982-83, sold with two photocopied letters from Lucie Rie to the vendor. A Dame Lucie Rie (Austrian 1902-1995) Stoneware Bowl, oatmeal glaze with a manganese rim, the underside in a pitted oatmeal glaze, impressed "LR" seal, 29.5cm diameter *Purchased from Primavera, 149 Sloane Street, London in 1948 as a wedding present. Primavera was founded by Henry Rothschild and first opened its doors in 1946. In the 1940's stock included pottery from Winchcombe and Crowan stoneware, moving onto tableware, in 1948, contributed by Lucie Rie.
