Lucie Rie - Four assorted studio pottery buttons, the first of elliptical form decorated in a copper lustre, the second of knot form in a gun metal lustre, the third of circular form decorated in a green and brown souffle glaze and the last of plated circular form decorated in a turquoise glaze, all unmarked.

Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist. Lucie was keen to see everything used, even kiln failures and seconds, she would therefore often gift such pieces, particularly saucers and plates, to friends for use as plant stands

A collection of twenty three mid 20th century ceramic buttons, some probably by Lucie Rie (Anglo-Austrian, 1902-1995), circa 1950 s and 60 s, comprising a part set of three gilt and red glazed buttons with moulded "stitched" detail, a pair of iridescent black glazed buttons of undulating circular form, a pair of gilded buttons of incuse cushion shaped form, the rears with gilt metal backs marked "Hand Made", a part set of five ochre glazed flower shaped buttons, a part set of four brown glaze buttons, four iridescent back glazed small buttons, a single grey glazed button, a green glazed button and a brown and cream swirled oval button (23) 1.5cm-4cm diameter approximately In good condition commensurate with age and use, some with very minute chips.
