CONDITION REPORT: Under a UV light, it appears that the neck has been completely snapped and reattached. However, the glaze appears undamaged.

Provenance: Purchased from the artist, 1976. Literature: Illustrated in Tony Birks, Lucie Rie (London, 1987), p. 218. In the Birks book Alan spotted that the vase had been wrongly attributed to the collection of A. Egner, further noting: 'When I bought this from Lucie at Albion Mews she had at first been reluctant to sell - then later changed her mind, saying 'Oh you can take it'. The piece had a label on the base BIRKS; perhaps it indicated its use for photography'. CONDITION REPORT: Appears good with no obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.

CONDITION REPORT: Appears good with no obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration. There are a few firing imperfections that are part of the texture. Tiny mark on bottom edge - also a firing imperfection. All as expected.

* Lucie Rie (1902-1995), a porcelain trumpet bowl, light apple green glaze and metallic dribbled border glaze, impressed "LR" monogram within foot. Width 22.5 cm, height 10.2 cm (see illustration). ARR CONDITION REPORT: This bowl is in very good condition. We can see no evidence of any repairs or restoration. The surface glaze is generally crazed as one would expect. This is most evident in the apple green glaze. There are no chips to the top rim. There are three very small nibbles to the unglazed bottom edge of the foot rim. We have looked at the piece with a UV light which does not reveal anything untoward.

•Dame Lucie Rie D.B.E (1902-1995) a flaring bowl, decorated with fine sgraffito lines in manganese on a buff ground impressed seal 14.5cm. diam. Please note this lot has been restored. Amended condition report: This bowl has been put under a UV lamp and this is showing that the bowl has been in pieces and restored back together. It has been in several pieces, probably around 5, and museum restored. This restoration is semi concealed by the sgraffito lines. This has meant the bowl has not been completely spray restored.
