A complete cast copper-alloy knife handle of probable Post-Medieval date, c. 1500-1600. The knife handle is broadly rectangular in plan and section, expanding from its base (where ferrous corrosion product represents the upper portion of the blade) towards a zoomorphic terminal. The latter takes the form of a waterbird, arrayed in the attitude of paddling. Condition: good, brownish green patina. Length: c. 75mm. Provenance: from the collection of a metal detectorist.
