A silver plated cocktail set 1920s-30s, J. Dixons and Sons., in leather motoring case, 15½ x 8½in. (39.3 x 21.6cm.), with embossed initials `J.E.G.`, brass lever locks to front, contents comprising cocktail shaker, two bitters bottle of rectangular form, 5in. (12.7cm.) high, two gin/vermouth bottles of cylinder form, 6¾in. (17.2cm.) high, four graduated measures, a rectangular olive box with shaped lid and an olive spoon to lid interior. * The initials are for John Eric Greenwood (1891-1975), a rugby union international with 13 caps for England between 1912-1920, who gained the Captaincy in 1920 on the resumption of fixtures after the great war.
A pair of yellow ground Japanese cloisonné baluster vasesMeiji period, each decorated in fine silver wire with a long tailed blue bird on rocks beside curly petalled chrysanthemums and flanked by other flowers, with silver neck and foot rims, the foot rims with impressed jun-gin (pure silver) marks, 6 1/8in. (15.5cm.) high. (2)CONDITION REPORT: Both vases are undamaged and in good condition, with no restoration. One has a half-pinhead sized pit to the enamel of its shoulder near the chrysanthemum, from the making. See images which are available on request. See Illustration.
A fine Japanese musen enamel and gold wire box by AndoMeiji period, the pale blue/grey and shaded blue removable lid showing Mount Fuji in musen (wireless) enamel with sailing boats and lines of rippled waves in gold cloisons, the body of the box on four shallow stepped feet rimmed with silver matching the top edge of the box and the lid rim which bear the gin-sei mark (made of silver), the interior of the box and underside of the lid in dark brown matt enamel and the underside of the base with the Ando mark in silver wire, 6½ x 4¾ x 2½ in. (16.5 x11.5 x 6.3 cm.).CONDITION REPORT: In good condition, with no damage or restoration noted. See Illustration.
