Jamie Maxtone-Grahams, Time Tackle and Pearson`s late Evans & Partridge, Stockbridge Auction sales, dating mid 1980s to 2000 year, many with penned prices realised great ref guides for the tackle collector.
REEL: Robertson of Glasgow presentation fly reel by Malloch, 2.5" diameter ebonite/brass with German silver rims, ivory handle, smooth constant check, face plate stamped "Robertson Maker Glasgow and engraved presented to Alex. MacPherson Esq., by the members of the Walton Angling Club Glasgow, 30th. March 1899", with accompanying letter from the Walton Angling Club 1981 detailing Alex MacPherson as secretary of the club 1887-1899 and various other related information, incl. "the reel was bought from Messrs` Robertson The Glasgow Fishing Tackle Dealers for 8 4shillings", quite a sum of money for those times.
LINE DRIER: Early Hardy pre 1897 line drier with Fenkle Street address., fitted with 6 screw in T shaped polished wooden arms, each numbered with corresponding numbers on hexagonal central block, brass U shaped cast clamp, 0.5"x6.5", with spindle securing screw, cast table clamp, the upper blade recessed to underside to accept reel foot, brass locking screw, the line drier lacks it`s crank handle, easily replaced otherwise in fine condition with all original finish in rarely seen maker`s original stained pine wooden box with slide lid, the underside stamped in ink "Hardy Brothers Fenkle Street, Alnwick, Gun, Fishing Rod & Tackle Makers".

C1894 incl. a fold-out map of the Thames from Kew to Great Marlow, noting the principal fishing swims, a scarce book and "The Angler`s Instructor" by the Nottingham Fishing tackle manufacturer William Bailey, 2nd edition. Both books feature pages of advertisements for fishing tackle makers and dealers.
