Sir Harry Lauder - a presentation Waltham Riverside open faced pocket watch, the white enamel dial with black and red arabic numerals and gilt hands, also with subsidiary seconds dial and key wound lever movement, the cuvette inscribed: TO HARRY MACLENNAN LAUDER, A GREAT MAN, A GREAT FRIEND, A GREAT STAR, FROM WILLIAM MORRIS INC, NEW YORK FEB 26th 1910, the outer case of interwoven design, the reverse inset with thirty-two single cut diamonds. Together with a fancy link chain composed of belcher links with reeded rectangular spacers each set with a single cut diamond. Contained in a blue velvet fitted case stamped WILLIAM REIMAN, FINEST GEMS, 328 FIFTH AVENUE Diameter 4.6cm, length of chain 36cm Provenance: Sold Morrison McChlery, Lauder Ha’ Strathaven 9th to 11th May 1966. William Morris also presented to Sir Harry a mahogany two drawer canteen of American cutlery (Lot 218 £150) which was inscribed “To Harry Lauder, Scotland’s King in America....” William Morris was the founder of the William Morrisagency which is today one of the foremost show business agencies in the States, based in L.A..
