A 19th century silver cased open faced pocket watch, the white enamel dial having Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, the inner back covers with English assays, the movement by Waltham of Massachusetts and numbered 2274872, diameter 5cm, and sold with a white metal curblink watch chain (Illus.) Footnote: Waltham is often referred to as 'Watch City' because of its' association with the watchmaking industry. The Waltham Watch Company which opened there in 1854 was the first company to produce watches on an assembly line.
