Auf Schreibmaschinenpapier von M.-K.-Papier (mit Wasserzeichen). 30 x 21 cm (11,8 x 8,2 in), Blattgröße. Vermutlich handelt es sich bei der Auflistung um Werke aus der Sammlung Karl Ströher. Listen und Aufzählungen sind im Werk von Beuys häufig anzutreffen und von ihm als eigenständige Zeichnungen betrachtet worden. Bei dem vorliegenden Blatt von 1968 handelt es sich entweder um ein Blatt aus der Liste von Werken der Ausstellung „BEUYS“ im Herbst 1967 im Städtischen Museum in Mönchengladbach, die komplett von dem Sammler Karl Ströher angekauft wurde und heute im Hessischen Landesmuseum in Darmstadt als „Block Beuys“ Weltruhm besitzt, oder um eine Liste zur Ausstellung der Sammlung Ströher 1969 in Düsseldorf, Berlin und Basel. Die Jahreszahl hinter der Signatur verweist eher auf die Ausstellung in Mönchengladbach. Die Überzeichnung von Aufzählungen ist häufig im Werk von Beuys anzutreffen. Die dunklen Formen sind so in die Zwischenräume gesetzt, dass die Wörter ungestört gelesen werden können. Auf diese Weise ergänzen die bildlichen Elemente mit ihrer unbestimmten Energie die rational begründete Zählung und Auflistung der Werke, die etwa der Vorbereitung eines Transports dienten. Lists and enumerations occur regularly in Beuys' work and he treated them as independent drawings. This sheet from 1968 is either a sheet from the list of works in the exhibition “BEUYS” at the Städtisches Museum in Mönchengladbach in autumn 1967, which was acquired in its entirety by the collector Karl Ströher, today the world-famous “Block Beuys“ at the Hessisches Landesmuseum in Darmstadt, or a list for the exhibition of the Ströher Collection in Düsseldorf, Berlin and Basel in 1969. The date next to the signature rather suggests the Mönchengladbach exhibition. The over-painted lists are quite common in Beuys' work. The dark shapes fill the interspaces so that the words remain legible. This way the pictorial elements with their indeterminate energy complement the rationally founded list of works that might have been used as, for instance, a list of objects compiled in preparation of a transport.
