[MURDOCH, Iris (1919-1999)]. A collection of personal effects, photographs and other material, including: A PORTABLE TYPEWRITER by the Palestine Orient Co. (Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa), no.5, with its carrying case (heavily worn), her skating boots (as used on a small pond behind her house in Steeple Aston, Oxon; somewhat rusted, worn), a carbon copy typescript of An Unofficial Rose (part 4, 93 pages, 4to), a typescript 'Note on Hume's Treatise', a collection of approximately 25 photographs of Iris Murdoch (the majority formal portraits by Bernard Bennett, Studio Edmark and others, some with John Bayley), with a number of other photographs of members of her circle (including one double-exposure shot showing the gigantic head and torso of Elias Canetti looming over a dry-stone wall), two printed books (one inscribed with a poem by Robert Graves), a postcard, and other material.
