an antique outstanding, Thai Ayutthaya Buddha bronze head. 17th cent. This amazing big Buddha head has deep reach black red patina. The head is well potted, displaying serene face with downcast eyes and a elongated ears . The Buddha ushnisha displaying a flame at the top, as typical of the period. In the forehead set between the eyes, there is a cavity, were once a precious stone was probably set. losses to neck due to age. an age crack at the back of the left ear. Fine old, wooden stand. Size net 31x11 cm, with stand 43 cm.
lot of 2 antique Buddha. One, 18th cent. Rare Thai Ayutthaya style and period walking Buddha . This lovely walking Buddha is rather rare, portraying the Buddha as a young man. The left hand is in the preaching mudra, the beautifully modeled long right hand along the body. deep rich patina. the flame at the top is slightly bent. There are several old scratches and wear signs, due to age. size 29x8 cm. Second, 19th cent. Seated Buddha. in abhaia mudra, seated on the lotus plinth, surrounded by a typical flaming mandorla and 2 dragons. size 16x9.5 cm.
An outstanding, antique, rare, Thai, walking bronze Buddha. 17th cent. Ayuthia period. Such items are incredible rare this days. The Buddhas' face and body are of a young man, correlating to very early models of the Buddha. In his face we can see the typical serene expression of the Gupta period , of the 6-8th cent., above his ushinsha, unlike the Gupta period, there is a flame. His right hand side longer than ordinary size hand, reaching to his knee and typical to his period. His left hand is in the preaching mudra, and he is wearing the typical attire to his period: a long robe, attached to his left hand, keeping his right shoulder bare. There is a crack to the right leg and the left leg has an old repair. there is a partial loss at the back of the base, another crack to the left side. A very rich, deep, brown patina with green inclusions. size 38x10x cm
An unusual, antique, southeast Asian, big, bronze bodhisattva, probably Khmer or Thai or of the region. Probably 19th cent. Portraying Avalokitesvara, bodhisattva of compassion of all Buddhas. Depicted as a young man wearing a short, old style sampot, with a tall royal style ushnisha. The bronze is covered with a thick old layer of lacquer, with some incrustation mostly around the head, with the lacquer is missing. Standing on an old wooden base. The facial expression seems more Khmer. Coming from an old collection from USA. Size net 68x20 cm, with the base 84 cm
