DAVID BOWIE - Original "Liza Jane" Single DiscAn original test (first) pressing 7-inch record for "Liza Jane", the first single released by David Bowie in 1964. This disc comes from the collection of Mike Wakelin, bass player for 1960s British pop band The Naturals, who shared a manager with Bowie, Leslie Conn. Conn asked Wakelin to step in and play bass for Bowie's band the King Bees, so Bowie gave Wakelin this disc to help him rehearse. The pair performed as part of the King Bees on the BBC2 show The Beat Room in July 1964.The black disc displays an "Advision Sound Studios" label, with the song titles and the name "Tom Jones" printed on both sides. "Tom Jones" was one of two original stage names Bowie wanted to use, the other being "Davie Jones", but both were already taken. The disc comes with a plain die-cut sleeve, on which "The Naturals" is written in black pen. The disc and sleeve display general signs of age, including marks and discolouration. Also included is a black-and-white promotional image of The Naturals presented in a white card frame.
