At the time the space programme was going well, with the early Gemini flights taking place, the Guernsey scouts planned to put on an open evening for parents interested in what the troops were doing at the time. He suggested that the troops might construct a mock-up of a Mercury space capsule and accordingly wrote to NASA at Cape Canaveral requesting details on the capsules. In early 1966 he received a reply with no details on the capsule but they had sent fact files on Gemini 4 and 5 flights plus a number of 3" x 5" cards that are included in this lot. The notable collection was sold at the Lincoln Auction Rooms of Thos Mawer & Sons Ltd on the 7th January 2006 at which the current vendor acquired this section of the collection, now to be offered and sold without reserve.
