[KAUFMAN, Enit Zerner (1897-1961)] "“SCHIELE, Egon (1890-1918). Autograph letter signed ("Egon Schiele" in a paraph), [to Enit Zerner Kaufman, "Fraulein"]. [Vienna], 22 August 1918.1 page, 4to, tipped into an autograph album. Schiele arranges a meeting with his student, whose work he describes as promising, frequently mentioning his address in Vienna, Hietzinger Hauptstrasse 101, and Hietzing, Vienna 's 13th district, with which Schiele is closely associated. Following his military service in World War I, Schiele was back in Vienna in 1917, where he focused on his artistic career.   His output was prolific, and he was invited to participate in the Secessions's 49th exhibition, held in Vienna in 1918. He had 50 works accepted for the exhibition, which were displayed in the main hall, and he designed the poster for the exhibition, reminiscent of the Last Supper.   The show was a success, and he received many portrait commissions.   On October 28, 1918, Schiele's wife Edith died from the Spanish Flu pandemic that had claimed more than 20,000,000 lives in Europe; Schiele died three days later.   [Autograph album also includes:] HANAK, Anton. A woman under the thrall of Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong) almost killed herself with the dagger before Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and Watson (Jude Law) saved her.The dagger has a hard rubber ram's head grip, and a black resin blade. The ram's eyes are faux gems, and the dagger has been intentionally distressed.It comes in a custom-made display featuring a wooden frame and a printed poster for the film. The frame is hinged, allowing access to the dagger, which has some wear from production use and age, including scuffing and scratches. Considered to be one of the rarest and most beautiful of all the Star Wars saga posters, this British UK quad for the release of the film in 1980 features artwork by Roger Kastel. It is often affectionately referred to as the "Gone with the Wind" style, due to its similarities to the classic 1939 movie poster. After a very limited initial release, many of these posters were trimmed for usage on the London Underground. However, this is an untrimmed poster, considered to be the 'Holy Grail' of Star Wars posters by collectors, with a 10/10 rarity rating from writer Stephen Sansweet in his Star Wars Poster Book.The poster is conservation-linen-backed and is presented in a metal frame, with minimal touch ups to the central and right-hand fold lines. The colours are bright and vibrant, particularly the silver title lettering, and it has very little wear considering its age.
