Two African ivory clubs, 19th century, one of knobkerrie form, the cylinder form handle with slight curvature into a bulbous head bearing clay infill to both sides, 14½in. (36.8cm.) long; the second of cylindrical form with slight curvature above a narrower waisted form handle, 17in. (43.1cm.) long. (2)
Two 19th Century Zulu hardwood knobkerrie, length 22cm & 74cm, the vendor's great grandfather reputedly worked as a gold miner in South Africa circa 1870s and fought in the Anglo-Zulu war. Condition - one appears to be chopped down, both with age cracks to heads, general wear to include marks, minor chips, scratches etc.
A group of African tribal weapons, comprising two axes, probably Congo, the first with broad head incised with geometric designs and set with three copper dots, the head secured with an iron ring, the haft carved with geometric designs about the head, together with a later and Knobkerrie, the haft bound with copper and brass wire decoration and containing a short stabbing spear.
