Zulu Early 19th Century Superb, Heavy Bladed Short Assegai Stabbing Spear, belonging to a high ranking captain or possibly a Royal or Chief of the Zulus. 41.5" - 103.75 cm long, complete with matching knobkerrie, early 19th Century, 14.25" - 35.70 cm long. Two South African knobkerries, length of largest 70.5cm, also a very well carved lidded bowl and a further carving (4).Additional InformationThe larger knobkerrie has split to top approximately half the way round vertically down, smaller knoberrie has several smaller splits to top and a large dent, further general wear.
Zulu Knobkerrie c.1870, a particularly fine and scarce example, 66cms long, off-set ball head, having hollowed out oval section on top and bottom of the head, and an iron ring just below the head. Very attractive wood grain to the head, and excellent colour all over. Very good condition. The scooped out sections were for the sniffing of snuff, it is said that drugs were given to Zulu warriors before they went into battle

An Early 20th Century Zulu Knobkerrie, of hard wood with deep chestnut coloured patina, the compressed heptagonal head with large natural split, on a tapering haft, the butt with cord bound grip, 74cm. Large wide split to head with two further smaller splits leading off it. Grain splits to haft. Lovely patina.
