1 Large size early 20th century reverse intaglio colorful floral. Here is one of those beautifully made and mounted buttons where the high domed glass is reverse cut (intaglio) and then colored. In this example the flowers are quite realistic looking and the colors are quite vibrant. All in all a beautiful example. A French 18ct gold and carved jasper intaglio ring. The 18ct yellow gold ring set with an oval carved jasper intaglio depicting an animal sitting on a chair reading a book, to scalloped border with pierced, bifurcated shoulders. The intaglio signed IAW verso. The ring having the French eagle's head assay mark for 18ct gold, together with partial maker's lozenge to the exterior of band. Intaglio ring head measures 1cm x 1.5cm. Size P. Weighs 4.9g. All weights, measurements and sizes are approximate.
6 Small early 20th century buttons from the Guinness Beer Co. These buttons advertising the Irish Beer company are reverse intaglio painted buttons. The Arthur Guinness. Son & Co. Ltd. Was started by Arthur Guinness in 1759 in Dublin, but no these buttons are not from then, but were made in the early 20th century. They depict a Turtle, A Kangaroo, A policeman, A Toucan, a Seal and a Duck. Why these depictions, we are not sure so if you know let us know. This is a great set se+655:655t in metal and on a card with Guinness info and in the back of the sleeve is the origin al card they were mounted on, with the words "With the Compliments of GUINNESS" and made in England. The rims on these have some verdigris. however they are not damaged and simply need a little cleaning with Simichrome or Flitz to make them like brand new.
